I will be out of the office June 5 - 14th. I'll be attending a photography workshop out of state. I am so excited to meet with peers and learn more about photography; it should be a great workshop! I hope to come home with a lot of fresh ideas for both my indoor and outdoor sessions.

spring mini session favorites

I wanted to share some of my fav's from the spring mini sessions. The sessions were a lot of fun for me (a bit tiring too!) and I felt so relieved that the weather cooperated each day. I was so happy to have so many families participate this year! I will definitely make the mini sessions part of spring each year!

family moments

A quick reminder for current clients. I will be "out of the office" from May 2 - 9th. My family will be attempting our first vacation together to Disney World. I couldn't be more excited! I'm also planning to have a fellow photographer take my families portrait; I have to admit I'm a bit nervous. I definitely enjoy being behind the camera instead of in front of it!!!

Behind the camera I feel like a casual observer and I love photographing something happening between a parent and child that is a bit candid and not completely scripted. These are a couple of my favorites from a recent session at Duke Gardens.

happy earth day!

A quick digression from photography news...I just caught the Oprah show (I'm often watching my recorded version very late at night) and I was so inspired tonight! If you didn't see it today, check out the Oprah website. Here is a link with great tips on recycling and using reusable's (using less plastic)!

Also, here is a peek from a recent session. These siblings were so much fun to photograph; they did a wonderful job for me and looked absolutely gorgeous!!!

I've also been doing a lot of storyboards for clients and it made me want to do one of my own for my new little baby. I hung it in his room and it looks absolutely adorable; I love looking at it while I'm feeding him.

This little sweetheart was an absolute angel during her entire session. She was very young - only 6 days old and just a beauty!

I just had to share this picture from a newborn session last week. I absolutely love pictures that show how "teeny-tiny" newborns are. Here this sweet little baby is just nestled up with his daddy; it was so sweet!

I am pleased to offer mini portrait sessions for this spring season. Bring your families and children to a fun and relaxed portrait session in their Easter attire! This is a great opportunity to get a fabulous Easter portrait without spending the time and money for a full length session (Dad's will love this!). There are limited sessions each day at the following locations:

April 17th - NC Arboretum (Raleigh)
April 18th - Haywood Hall (Raleigh)
April 19th - Crowder Park (Apex)
April 25th - Kids Together Park (Cary)

The cost: $200 (plus tax)
This includes your session fee as well as these prints:

4 (4x6)'s, 4 (5x7)'s, 2 (8x10), 1(11x14), 1 (Wallet)

Payment for your session is due at the time of booking in order to reserve your session date!

happy valentine's day!

I hope each of you have a lovely Valentine's day with your sweeties (be it your spouse or your children). This Valentine's has been such a great day to "share the love" with my family and it's been so special having a new little one at our house. Nothing beats a romantic dinner with your toddlers! :)

There are currently no remaining sessions available for February. If you are looking for a session in March there is one remaining weekend left on the 28th. I am also booking sessions through the end of July.

a thank you to my clients

I hope everyone had a nice holiday season and a wonderful start to 2009. My personal life has been a bit crazy—this was our first holiday season with a second child in tow. Now I can say I truly appreciate all of the families I photograph with multiple children. I truly respect the extra effort you Mom's put forth in coordinating outfits and keeping your children clean for their pictures. I have recently discovered that it is not an easy task!

Onto the brave new world of 2009! There are a lot of neat things that will be showing up over the next month but my first big announcement is my new referral program:

baby quilter has arrived

I am so happy to announce that my son was born last week and about 9 days early! Our family is quite sleep deprived right now but I've been trying to snatch some pictures of him here and there when I'm able. I really appreciate all the support I've received from everyone and for those of you interested in seeing the little guy...here he is:

Another kind of photography

I had the pleasure of having a 4D-Ultrasound of my little guy this week and it was the most amazing experience! I just had to share a couple of the sweet images that came from the ultrasound. 4D-Ultrasound is such an incredible technology and the Triangle Imaging Center in Cary did such an amazing job for our family. It was really special to get a sneak peek of my son and it was so fun to watch my older son during the ultrasound as he would talk about his baby brother. If you are pregnant, this is definitely a must-do!

First I have to apologize for getting the re-print sale off to a very late start! I've been trying to wrap up all my final orders from July so that I could keep everything straight. And being pregnant seems to slow everything down so I really want to thank you for your patience!

I am so happy to pass along some savings for this re-print sale and I hope it helps a little if you are thinking forward to the holidays for gift ideas or even if you are thinking for yourself (Mom's deserve a little extra indulgence here and there!) I know I just love looking at pictures of my son and it is such a joy to see his smile or silly expression captured in his photographs.

Maternity Leave Update

Well everyone, I've finally ironed out my maternity leave schedule...I will be starting my maternity leave August 1st and I plan to return in December for limited sessions and then full strength in January 2009.

I'm also planning a really awesome re-print sale in August (if you can think ahead for holiday presents). It will be a special "Christmas in August" if you will. I'll be contacting clients alphabetically and will be re-posting your galleries for a limited time. The re-prints will be offered at a discount!

I'll also be offering holiday cards to those of you who have already had sessions this summer. I'll be posting that information at the very beginning of August.

And before I go here is a sneak peek from my session last weekend of this precious 1 year old. I had done her newborn pictures and it was so neat to see her so grown up and just talking up a storm!

Brothers are great!

June is here I have really been behind on posting to my blog! I am shocked that the whole month of May slipped away so quickly. I think I've been in a pregnancy fog so now that I'm finally over morning sickness so I hope to do much better!

One thing I love about outdoor photo sessions is the energy the kids bring to their pictures! And these two brothers were overflowing with fun energy for their pictures. They both had such great smiles and I wanted to share some of my favorites where you can really see their special brotherhood bond!

exciting news and a newborn preview

I am so pleased to announce that my husband and I are expecting our second child. We are so happy to be adding to our little family. I am due at the beginning of November!

I'm not entirely sure how many fall sessions I will be doing at this point so stay tuned and I will post my fall availability. Right now I am booked through the end of July but I will post any cancellations that open up.

Also, I couldn't leave without posting some of my favorites from my most recent newborn session...Enjoy!

schedule update

I will be "out of the office" and not checking email from Saturday, April 19th - Saturday, April 26th. My family and I are taking a much needed vacation to the beautiful shores of North Carolina! I couldn't be more excited for this week long get-away. And I'm hoping to get some really fun pictures of my son on the beach.

I've tried to let all my current clients know that I'll be away; but if you are a new client interested in a session please be patient with me and I will get back to you when I return next weekend!

And I couldn't leave without posting pictures from my most recent newborn session. This little guy melted my heart!

Cary Living Magazine Photo Shoot

I'm really excited to share the news that I had the opportunity to do a children's fashion shoot for the March/April issue of Cary Living Magazine. I was able to photograph 4 of the very sweetest children while they modeled some very gorgeous spring outfits! The outfits were provided by local stores such as Polkadots, Padoodles, Little Tomo, and Pattywhacks.

Here is the magazine spread - but definitely pick up a copy! It is a very fun spring issue!

I am planning to open up some weekend evening sessions - please contact me if you are interested. These special evening sessions would be held later in the evening before sunset so please consider how that would affect your children. These would be ideal for families with older children.

Many session are still available! I know the weekend sessions are the most popular during these months, so if you know your summer vacation schedule please contact me so you can get a spot reserved.

Also, I just have to do a preview of this darling 6 month old. She was so wonderful during her photo session despite the fact that she had skipped her nap - she must have been excited about getting her pictures taken. :) I haven't checked with Mom yet, but I'm hoping she took a nice long nap that day!
